The Gigafloat Management Corporation (人工島管理公社 Jinkōshima kanri kōsha?, lit. "Artificial Island Management Corporation") is the organization that oversees the administration of Itogami City

Information[]

The Demon Sanctuary of Itogami City was formally a part of the Tokyo Metropolis, but the Gigafloat Management Corporation ran the special administrative district. The Yaze family currently headed it, and Akishige Yaze was the corporation’s chairman.[1]

History[]

Operations[]

Abilities[]

The Gigafloat Management Corporation only possessed the meager combat capability to deal with sorcerous criminals within the island. There was no way it could defy that powerful multinational armada.[2]

Island Guard[]

They are under the jurisdiction of the Metropolitan Police Department, but in reality they are more like a private unit of the Gigafloat Management Corporation.

Coast Guard[]

Like the Island Guard, the coast guard was an agency external to the Gigafloat Management Corporation, an autonomous paramilitary organization assigned to preserving order and safety in Itogami Island’s maritime zone. The scope of its mission was broad, including search and rescue, managing maritime traffic, apprehending smugglers and foreign infiltrators, and on top of that, magically surveying the ocean and even the capture or elimination of marine demon beasts. It was a crucial organization supporting the safety of Itogami Island, a city atop the ocean, from the shadows. However, in contrast to the importance of its mission, one could not call its budget extravagant. In particular, the coast guard’s air base was a little sub-float tethered to Itogami Island’s shore, and the base’s “facilities” amounted to one narrow runway. The actual station was a two story prefab wooden cabin, with even lampposts scarce in the surrounding area.[3]

Sorcerous Suppression Group[]

The Sorcerous Suppression Group was rumored to be the mightiest of the Island Guard, a special unit under the direct command of the Board of Directors. However, the Gigafloat Management Corporation did not publicly acknowledge its existence. This was because the equipment of the Attack Mages assigned to the SSG was constructed with feedback from research on demons conducted on Itogami Island. Using the results of biological research on demons for military applications was a Demon Sanctuary’s greatest taboo.[4]

Orbital attack satellite: This was the Gigafloat Management Corporation’s trump card, an anti-ground laser fired from an orbital attack satellite. The anti-ground laser attack’s speed was virtually identical to the speed of light. Even Shizuka Koyomi’s absolute-initiative attack ability could not fend off such an onslaught. A remote control was the trigger to activate the satellite.[5]

Database: The Gigafloat Management Corporation’s database archived exacting information on the Demon Sanctuary that was not available to the public.[6] It records everything down to how many steamed meat buns were bought at convenience stores on the island on any given day.[7]

Trivia[]

  • Even the Gigafloat Management Corporation could not do as it pleased with a civilian aircraft.[8]
  • The song “Asagi” sang—the popularity of which was spreading through the city like wildfire —was a fraud created by the Gigafloat Management Corporation.[4]
