Kensei Kanase

Information

Kensei Kanase (叶瀬賢生(かなせけんせい), Kanase Kensei) is Kanon's adopted father whose younger sister is Kanon's biological mother. He was a former royal court mage at the palace of Aldegyr and is the leader of Magus Craft. He planned to make Kanon into a weapon that can rival a primogenitor in order to destroy Cain.

Appearance[]

Kensei has blue eyes and light brown hair. He wears a gray shirt and black pants with a white lab coat. He was a man with an austere face with white mixed into his hair. He looked like he was just short of fifty years old. Though not of any great bulk, the man had an oddly overbearing presence. From his appearance, one might mistake him for a pious clergyman.^[1]

Personality[]

The reason why Kensei wanted to make his adopted daughter an angel was not to make her a powerful weapon, but instead to make her next to God so that she would survive when he came.

History[]

He was neither monk, nor a minister. If anything, he was a man whose beliefs were the polar opposite of theirs. This was a man who sought to master alchemy and sorcery to reshape the world using miracles wrought by his own hand. He was a sorcerous engineer, formerly employed by the royal family of Aldegyr Kingdom.^[1]

He was known as the sorcery manufacturing powerhouse; in the past, he submitted a thesis on spiritual matter conversion. It was considered a revolutionary concept.^[2]

The reason Kensei Kanase instigated murder via illegal human experiments that violated many of the Holy Ground Treaty clauses and used explicitly banned forbidden curses was because his logic was that he wanted to send his daughter to heaven because he loves her, but that wasn't the whole story. He had a reason enough that he used even his own daughter as a test platform for getting Faux-Angel good to go as soon as he could. Kensei, who was using them to fund his research, even used Magus Craft. If he could complete Faux-Angel, he didn’t care if it was used for military purposes. Kensei had to complete Faux-Angel regardless of what the consequences might be. Kensei Kanase believes that there must not be more than three Primogenitors. The appearance of the Fourth Primogenitor means an enemy shall appear against which such power shall be necessary. That’s why he wanted to manufacture angels as weapons to destroy him.^[3]

Kensei Kanase, once the Court Sorcerous Engineer of the Aldegian Royal Palace, was apparently entrusting to the princess a plan he had devised to further strengthen the Völundr System, a powerful anti-demon system that was the pride of Aldegia’s Knights of the Second Coming. If the Aldegyr Kingdom were to put this ritual into action, they would surely reap incalculable benefits as a result.

With a dark expression, Kensei Kanase, former Court Sorcerous Engineer of the kingdom of Aldegia, beheld the sight of Kojou and his daughter sitting upon the bed of a love hotel, dressed only in bathrobes.

Kojou:
Pops

Kojou:
(Kojou said, turning to Kensei)

Kojou:
Can you teleport me as far as Saikai Academy?

Kensei:
(Kensei glared at Kojou with a dour expression.)

Kensei:
When did you get the impression you could call me your father?

Kojou:
Hey, I don’t mean it that way! Geez!

Kensei:
(Kensei’s expression morphed into a somber smile.)

Kensei:
I am joking

Kojou:
(Kojou clutched his head in an exaggerated fashion. It was way too hard to figure out when that man was joking.)
