Magna Ataraxia Research

Magna Ataraxia Research lab.

Magna Ataraxia Research Incorporated (マグナ・アタラクシア・リサーチ Maguna Atarakushia Risāchi) (MAR) was a giant conglomerate with branches all over the Far East. It is a corporate group formed of a number of sorcerous product manufacturers with global reach, and is one of the world's leading magic industrial complexes. Shahryar Ren was the president of MAR. One of their laboratories is located at Itogami Island, where Mimori Akatsuki works.

Following Shahryar Ren's invasion of Nod, MAR had been dissolved, with each individual division announced as a brand-new, freestanding corporation.[1]

Information[]

Magna Ataraxia Research Incorporated, or MAR, was a conglomerate formed of multiple sorcerous product manufacturers with global reach. It was an industrial giant that made everything from pills for the common cold to military fighter jets. The MAR lab site at Itogami Island is said to be quite large, their buildings connected to one another formed a giant three-dimensional complex. The lab is big enough to have almost one thousand researchers working there.[2] In one corner of the complex is a cylinder-shaped building, which is a series of extravagant resort-styled apartments. These apartments were meant for hosting guests and researchers from off the island. Mimori Akatsuki is known to use one of these apartments for her own personal use, sleeping there the vast majority of the time.

MAR also employed robots using sorcerous circuitry and shikigami as guards for their facility. They were excellent workers that never slacked off or let anything slip—unlike humans.

MAR had accumulated so much power in its expansion into a giant international conglomerate that it was viewed as an eyesore across the globe. They employ a large number of skilled specialists, possess the know-how to move as an organization, and also possess the financial power to hire the right people and the technology to allow people to live prosperous lives. Various national governments had quietly banded together to begin attacking MAR through legal or even extra-legal means: the freezing of assets, the sealing of factories and offices, arrests of executives and employees, and even direct attacks by force of arms. However, for all the economic power it could boast, MAR was a civilian corporation in the end—a leaf in the wind against the force of a tornado. In the battle against the Holy Ground Treaty Organization, MAR strongholds were being taken over across the globe. In two short days, the corporation had lost virtually all of its capabilities. The last stronghold remaining was its headquarters, Arnica Quad.

Equipment and Technology[]

MAR owns sorcerous devices resembling a brooch. This was a teleportation device using MAR’s latest technology. The downsides were that it depleted a vast amount of magical energy and could only jump to preregistered coordinates, but the convenience of a nonsorcerer being able to use teleportation so easily was overwhelming.
