Tobias Jagan (トビアス・ジャガン Tobiasu Jagan), known mononymously as Jagan, is a noble vampire from the Warlord's Dominion and is one of the people who serves Dimitrie as his aide. He is jealous of Kojou because Dimitrie is attracted to him.

Appearance[]

Tobias's looks are described by the author as handsome and reminiscent of a blade. In the light novels, he has silver hair and blue eyes with a youthful appearance.

Personality[]

With Kojou, Tobias can be quite hostile and derisive with him during the times they interact, such as insulting Kojou by equating his intelligence with that of a kindergartener's and is just mean to him all around. Since the primary reason for his dislike towards Kojou is because Dimitrie is attracted to him (even when Kojou expresses obvious disgust towards his emotions), this suggests Tobias has a bit of deep-seated insecurity despite projecting a confident image outwardly.

Being Dimitrie's right-hand man, Tobias is fiercely loyal to him and was enraged when Angelica Hermida's allies disrespected him, making one of his redeeming qualities fidelity. It was also heavily implied he actually has romantic feelings for Dimitrie in Volume 5 of the light novel.

Though Tobias can be harsh, superficial, obnoxiously blunt, and annoyingly stuck-up, he isn't thoroughly bad and even has his somewhat nicer moments such as when he indirectly praised Yume Eguchi and thanked Kojou during Volume 15.

Plot[]

Emissary of the Warlord[]

Labyrinth of the Blue Witch[]

Banquet of the Observers[]

He made two short appearances in this arc: first when he looked down on Kojou from Oceanus Grave II's balcony, second when he questioned Vatler's decision to withdraw temporarily from Itogami Island.

Kaleid Blood[]

In Volume 7 of the light novel series, Tobias and Kira Lebedev are instructed by Dimitrie to guard Kojou in case Dimitrie "disappears" by enrolling at Saikai Academy, to which Tobias expresses annoyance for. After he exits the MAR hospital, Kira and Tobias believe that a girl within their eyesight is tailing Kojou and soon begin to fight her, believing she is the one who took Dimitrie captive.

Bride of the Dark God[]

When Kojou and Yukina go to the airport to see Kojou's father off, Tobias appears and at first begins to poke fun at Kojou. Irked by this, Kojou aggressively asks why he is there, but Tobias refuses to tell them. But right after that, he states that Vatler is gone for a little while and told him there's no point of worrying.

When Celesta, Kojou, and Yukina are attacked by Angelica Hermida and her group, an indignant Tobias defends them yet all the while throwing insults at Kojou, to which Kojou responds by calling him "all-talk" and "a sore loser". Later, he returns to Vatler and tells him about the incident, talking bad about Kojou even then.

Abilities[]

Vampiric Abilities: As a vampire, he possesses superhuman strength, speed, reflexes and durability.

Familiar Summoning: He can also summon familiars

"Wadjet" is an invisible familiar that invades the minds of those whose eyes he met, taking them over.

"Irrlicht" is an incandescent raptor that can scorch the ground to very high temperatures, blowing away his opponents.

"Anmauth" is a steel Jewish golem that can cause severe damage to his opponents.

Trivia[]

  • It is possible Tobias is of Greek heritage as the Warlord's Empire is located somewhere in Western Europe. Moreover, his epithet "Vampire of the Evil Eye" is likely derived from the Greek urban legend of a talisman that is a gauntlet with a blue eye in hopes of keeping away negative spirits. However, one of his familiars, Anmauth, is a Jewish golem, and Tobias is also a Jewish name with Greek origin. This could mean that Tobias is half-Greek and half-Israeli, or he is simply a Greek who practices Judaism.
  • It is heavily implied Tobias is homosexual.
  • Because of being frequently addressed by his surname, Tobias becomes flustered when someone unfamiliar to him calls him by his given name, as shown in Volume 15.
